Reviews
Beautiful location, with gorgeous sea views. The food and service were spot on. Very fresh crab, and the pickled oysters were tried, with a bit of caution, but turned out to be an absolute delight. I highly recommend this restaurant, and I will be back for more oysters.
Went out as a group of four; we arrived after 13:00 and were able to get a table.
Shared lobster and crab fritters, which were excellent.
Three of us ordered fish of the day (hake), but it sold out so we were offered haddock that was tasty.
Lovely little restaurant with a superb selection of sea food dishes and a great view of the beach below.
The choice of beers could be better in my opinion, e.g. the current selection feels a bit too mainstream, but the excellent sea food more than makes up for the limited choice of ales 😊.
Lovely setting, and I was fortunate enough to see a super moon whilst enjoying dinner with family.
The service was prompt and discussed the menu. However, we did have a few items not available from the menu as they were sold out.
We had the hot shellfish platter, which was wonderful, although there were no clams or mussels, but we did have additional prawns and scallops.
I felt the wine list could have a few more choices, especially to compliment the wonderful fresh fish.
Dessert choice was okay, but again, felt there could have been more of a choice.
I would definitely recommend visiting, we will return but will book a table for not so late to allow for a full choice from the menu.
We had such an excellent evening for my father in law's 70th birthday. Not only was the food and service incredible, the team went above and beyond to make it a perfect birthday - even getting some special Jacobs crackers in for the cheese board - his favourite! Thanks so much - definitely the best restaurant in Cornwall.
Wow what a place! We had the seafood platter, sea bass belly & bread. The food was incredible but what was exceptional was the service, I have never been to a restaurant where the staff are so attentive and friendly. They deserved every single penny of their tip and then some. Within 30 seconds of being seated a gentleman brought over our water, we were given plenty of time to choose drinks and food and did not feel rushed at all! The atmosphere was lovely and the decor inside the restaurant was beautiful, they could have overdone it with the beachy theme but they didn’t it was nice and simplistic with a subtle nod to the sea. Honestly couldn’t fault the whole experience we will definitely be returning!
Incredible food in a stunning beachside location. The local scallops were cooked to perfection and the fish and chips, amazing, genuinely.
We were totally wowed by it all, especially as we were expecting the usual seaside burger joint upon approach...
how wrong we were! 🙂
Can't recommend this place and its wonderfully attentive staff highly enough.
I was really looking forward to going to Hooked on the Rocks. I had been looking at the menu and for the price of the food I thought we were in for a treat. Unfortunately I think I had just ordered the wrong dishes. We had some starters to share, one of which was whitebait with chilly Jam. I then had the squid which was £28 and I was expecting it to look like the photos on Google but unfortunately it wasn't. The squid was on a bed of chilly jam again and It was so strong I could barely taste the flavour of the squid. Really disappointing. I'd rather it come in a pot so I could dip it instead. Oh well...
